PROHIBITION AND EXCISE

1.Brief note about the Department:

                    The Government vide GO.Ms.No. 1573, Rev(Ex-II) Dep,Dt:20.08.2005 have reorganized the Proh & Excise Department and bifurcated the area of jurisdiction of  Proh. & Excise Superintendents. The new Proh & Excise district is being functioned at Kothagudem as its head quarters w.e.f 1.9.2005.

Bhadradri Kothagudem District consists with borders, East by Andhra Pradesh State, West by Mahabubabad and Mulugu Districts, North by Chattisgarh State and the South by Khammam District, with (23) Mandals and (376) Revenue Villages.

There are (6) Proh & Excise Stations at Bhadradri Kothagudem District. The (6) Excise Stations are manned by the Proh & Excise Inspectors in the department. (1) Check Post at Bhadrachalam is functioning at Bhadrachalam out skirts i.e., at Forest Checkpost & (1) temporary check post has been established at the out skirts of the Aswaraopeta to check illegal transportation of Excise prohibited items.

2.Activities of the Department :

                  The Telangana Excise Department in Telangana Secretariat administers Acts & Rules related to Liquor, Toddy, narcotics, etc., and will make policies pertaining to Prohibition & Excise in the State of Telangana. The Department ensures that Excise Revenue is protected and collected according to the Acts and Rules. This Department is one of the major revenue earning departments. The Department will create awareness among the people of Telangana on the evil effects of consumption of alcoholic products and also Illicit Distillation of Liquor and also encourages for establishment of Drug De-Addiction Centers.

3. Schemes implemented under the Department:

• As a welfare measure, the Government issuing Ex-gratia to the Toddy Tappers who accidentally fallen while tapping the Toddy trees, the Ex-gratia details as per G.O.Ms.No. 164, Revenue (Ex.II) Department, Dt. 14.07.2017 is as follows.

• Further to ensure livelihood security for members of Goud community who have traditionally been in the profession of tapping/sale of toddy & liquor and for the economic upliftment of Gouds, SCs and STs, Government, through reference G.O. Ms.No. 87, Revenue (Ex.II) Department, Dt. 20.09.2021, has notified for allotment of A4 liquor shops to following categories, at percentage mentioned against their name.

4. Statistical information :

            Proh. & Excise Stations with A-4 Shops/2-B Bars in the district.

            The following are the Excise shops functioning for the year 2023-2024(Excise Policy starts from 01-12-2023 to 30-11-2024) in the District and the revenue fetched in the form of License fee.

                    During the Excise year i.e., from 01.12.2023 to 31.05.2024, the revenue derived in the form of sale value of IML together volume/sale of IML when compared to corresponding previous year i.e., from 01.12.2022 to 31.05.2023 as detailed below:
