BRIEF NOTE: – Industrial Peace, Implementation of Minimum rates of wages fixed by the Government in various scheduled employments, elimination of Child Labour, Labour Welfare Schemes and Building and Other Construction Workers Act,.

The main Functioning of the Labour Department, implementation of Labour Laws and Welfare Schemes under Building and Other Construction Workers Act. 1996, and other Schemes of Labour Welfare Board under Labour Welfare Fund Act. 1987.
The Labour Department mostly deals with Minimum Wages Act, Shops and Establishments Act., Payment of Wages Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Child Labour Act, Motor Transport Workers Act, and Workmen’s Compensation Act., Contract Labour Act. and Equal Remuneration Act., etc.
Registration and Renewals :- Shops and Establishments, Motor Transport Undertaking and Contract Labour Establishments are registered under Shops and Establishments Act., Motor Transport Workers Act and Contract Labour Act respectively and the same are renewed every year. The Registrations and Renewals, Change of Address, issue of duplicate certificates have been introduced through Mee-Seva (Online).
Inspections :- Inspections are taken up for implementation various provisions of above Acts and action shall be taken against the erring employers.
Claims and Prosecutions :- The Inspectorate of the Department file claim petitions and prosecutions before the appropriate Authorities.
Authorities: – The Asst. Commissioner is the only Conciliation Officer in the District. He is also the Quasi Judicial Authority at District level.
Special Drives for Child Labour :- The most important and vital task is elimination of Child Labour. In this regard, not only working Children, but also out of school children, beggars, street boys are being admitted in R.B.Cs and the employers are being punished.
Building and Other Construction Workers Act:- There are 93,216 workers registered under this Act. For 2061 Claims of different schemes an amount of Rs.10,42,48,128=00 disbursed so far.
