Veterinary & Animal Husbandry
The District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer( Deputy Director) is the head of the Department in the district assisted by (2) Assistants Directors in the Office. The following 80 Veterinary Institutions and (5) Mobile veterinary clinics are functioning in the District.

Department activities.
- Breed development through artificial insemination
- Treatment of ailing animals.
- Fodder development – increase in area of cultivation of improved annual and perinial fodder
- Organizing animal health and fertility camps.
- Organizing farmers awareness meetings.
- Deworming
- Prophylactic vaccination of livestock as per the department calendar
The following disease control strategy will be adopted during the year 2024-25:
1) Vaccinations in Bovines (HS& BQ).
2) Foot & Mouth Disease Vaccination (NADCP_FMD): Mass vaccination of all the eligible bovines will be taken up twice in the year at 6 monthly interval under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP_FMD).
3) Brucella Vaccination(NADCP_ Brucellosis) Programme: Vaccination of female calves of 4-8 months of age will be taken up twice in the year at 6 monthly interval under the National Animal Disease Control Programme.
4) Lumpy Skin Disease Vaccination:- as per GOI instructions LSD vaccinations will be taken up in the white cattle.
5) Vaccinations in Small ruminants (ET, PPR, Bluetongue, Sheep Pox & Goat pox): For effective control and eradication of the sheep and Goat diseases.
6) CSF vaccinations : under Livestock Health & Disease Control Programme (LHDC), Classical Swine Fever vaccination is taken up in pigs.
SCHEMES: 1.Supply of fodder seed on75% subsidy to the farmers under NLM scheme
